During the Covid Pandemic years Cruickshank Park was an oasis for those needing to get out of their isolation for their hour of exercise. There was an increase of children on bikes and playing in the creek, of picnics and friendly faces - although from behind masks. The Flamingo House was very active in activities such as "The Smile Mile", where riddles, jokes and other fun things were posted on trees along the paths.
The Fairy Garden was created by the young members of the community and gave much joy to young and old.
This was also the time Yarraville's very own fairy princess Princess On Skates started to make surprise visits to the park and collecting a huge following.
During this time we focused on the structure of Friends of Cruickshank Park.
The group became incorporated, we strengthened our community connections and engagement with Maribyrnong Council and Melbourne Water. We have been busy making plans to bring more to the park and celebrate the people of this special local community - this website is just one small part that will help support things in the future!
